George Forest Hoeferlin PhD, joined our lab on March 1, 2024. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, where Prof. Jeffrey Capadona advised him. His research interests lie in understanding and minimizing the effects of blood-brain barrier damage in response to intracortical microelectrode implantation. He was the first to show a connection between the gut microbiome and intracortical microelectrode function and subsequent neuroinflammation. Through his work, he hopes to create devices that will last a lifetime in human subjects.
