Dr. Shelley Fried has been awarded a new R01 from NIH/NIDCD. In collaboration with Co-PI Julie Arenberg, PhD, at Mass Eye and Ear, they are evaluating the use of magnetic stimulation from tiny coils (microcoils) as an alternative to conventional microelectrodes for stimulation of the cochlea. The Aims focus on the design/development of a new coil-based array along with evaluation and comparison to conventional, electrode-based devices. Additional grant details can be found here.
